Silicone-coated cords are engineered for sealing joints and flanges in high-temperature environments where ordinary cords may allow gas leaks or fiber shedding. The silicone layer forms a dense, impermeable barrier that enhances sealing, prevents fiber release into the air, and protects the cord from abrasion, vibration, and mechanical wear.

The silicone layer can withstand temperatures above +1000 °C for short periods. In prolonged exposure, the coating may degrade — but the high-temperature fiber core of the IZOPACK cord remains intact, continuing to provide thermal insulation and maintain a sealing function even in extreme conditions.

IZOPACK cords with silicone coating are made from high-temperature yarns such as fiberglass, basalt, ceramic fiber, and high silica yarn. Each core material provides distinct thermal and mechanical properties suited to various sealing applications.

The silicone coating enhances resistance to vibration, and surface wear, while significantly improving sealing tightness and preventing fiber shedding.
