Extra Durability
Silicone-coated cords are engineered for sealing joints and flanges in high-temperature environments where ordinary cords may allow gas leaks or fiber shedding. The silicone layer forms a dense, impermeable barrier that enhances sealing, prevents fiber release into the air, and protects the cord from abrasion, vibration, and mechanical wear.
How Silicone Enhances Sealing at High Temperature
The chart below illustrates how the mechanical strength of the silicone coating decreases with temperature and exposure time. This data helps evaluate the sealing reliability and surface durability of IZOPACK cords in both continuous and short-term high-temperature applications.
Heat Resistance That Supports Long-Term Sealing Performance
The silicone layer can withstand temperatures above +1000 °C for short periods. In prolonged exposure, the coating may degrade — but the high-temperature fiber core of the IZOPACK cord remains intact, continuing to provide thermal insulation and maintain a sealing function even in extreme conditions.
Product Line
IZOPACK cords with silicone coating are made from high-temperature yarns such as fiberglass, basalt, ceramic fiber, and high silica yarn. Each core material provides distinct thermal and mechanical properties suited to various sealing applications.
The silicone coating enhances resistance to vibration, and surface wear, while significantly improving sealing tightness and preventing fiber shedding. These cords are designed for use in flanged joints and other sealing points within high-temperature industrial environments — including steel mills, foundries, and glass production facilities.
